Starcraft 2: No "ingame" advertising

With the recent merger between Activision/Vivendi and Blizzard; Activision CEO Robert Kotich has been talking about plans to place advertising into upcoming title Starcraft II.

From comments on various web forums it seems fans have not reacted especially positively to the idea. Blizzard quickly clarified the situation. Only the online game manager known as Battle.net would sport ingame advertising. Since the original Battle.net already was capable of delivering advertising, it seems fans have made a lucky escape on this occasion.

As several commentators have already noted it seems somewhat presumptious of Activision to start making plans on to better maximise profit for Blizzard. It seems Blizzard have been doing just fine so far. We can do little but agree.
