Incoming: Mad Max game

Chris Kruger

Speaking to Newsweek George Miller revealed that the popular Mad Max film release in 1979 will is to become the subject matter of an upcoming game.

Miller said in his interview statement, "For many, many, many years - for as many years as I can remember we've been asked to make games of the 'Mad Max'story ... But it always felt like what I used to call empty calorie action. Where you just - the thing that you were alluding to before, which is just action for it's own sake without anything underneath it."

Then I realized at a certain point - maybe about three or four years ago that, 'Wait a minute, the world of story telling - if you approach it from the point of view that this is all storytelling - is changing way, way rapidly'

He continued, "People tend to become very, very rigid and they say, "Well, the only way to tell stories is in the cinema. Or the only way to tell stories is on television. Or the only way to distribute the stories is to make big blockbusters or do small independent films."

It seems at some point, Miller admits, he realised you could tell a story with any medium.

Later in the Newsweek interview Miller also confirmes that Mel Gibson will not be involved in the project.
